根據《Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English》,credit有以下幾種意思:
an arrangement with a shop, bank etc that allows you to buy something and pay for it later
1: What’s the credit limit on your Visa card?
2:The store agreed to let him have credit.
on credit
Most new cars are bought on credit.
approval or praise that you give to someone for something they have done
1:Credit must go to Fiona for making sure everything ran smoothly.
2:Credit for this win goes to everybody in the team.
此外,還可以這樣搭配:take/claim/deserve etc (the) credit
當我們想表示“某人值得贊揚或欽佩”時,我們也可以用to sb’s credit (=used to say that someone has done something good)來表示
釋義3:be a credit to sb/sth
to behave so well or be so successful that your family, team etc are proud of you
1:She’s a credit to her profession.
4:savings in the bank account
存款
if you are in credit, there is money in your bank account
if you are out of credit, there is no money in your bank account.
釋義5:the credits(復數)
[plural,復數] a list of all the people involved in making a film or television programme, which is shown at the beginning or end of it
[C] a successfully completed part of a course at a university or college
學分
例1:I don’t have enough credits to graduate.
7:amount of money
Amount of money
[C] an amount of money that is put into someone’s bank account or added to another amount
Jasmine and Lily took part in a commercial shooting. Their task was to make a short commercial. They need to buy some props. When they were at the store, they found out that the props are very expensive, and they decided to buy such goods on credit. All props costed 2,000 U.S. Dollars, and Lily found out that the credit limit on her Visa card is 1,000 U.S. Dollars. Jasmine said that she would pay such props, but found out that her bank account was out of credit. Finally, they overcame all the difficulties, and successfully completed the shooting. Their teacher was very proud of them and said they were a credit to the college. As the creditsrolled on the video, Jasmine and Lily noticed their names were absent. The director of the commercial had taken all the credit.
